The walk turned out to provide many benefits for humans. U.S. researchers found that walking at least as far as 16 kilometers in a week it could affect the ability of a person's brain.
Strolling apparently could contribute to brain shrinkage and reduction of disease dementia in old age. Based on a study of 300 people in Pittsburgh, showed contraction of the brain associated with aging is reduced in people who walk as far as 10.8 kilometger than on foot with a distance below it.
Kirk Eriksson of the University of Pittsburgh said, brain shrinkage in old age can cause memory problems. The research results are published in the journal Neurology, he suggested the need for good physical exercise designed to prevent Alzheimer's disease. Alzheimer's disease is the most common type of dementia because it kills brain cells slowly.
''Research shows that some activities, especially walking, can increase brain size,''he said.
